Everyone should knit at least one yoked sweater in their knitting careers. Last fall, Tincan knits published a collection of yoked colorwork sweaters called “Strange Brew” last fall. In addition to several gorgeous sweaters, they included a very clever template to help you design your own yoke designs, either from the bottom up or the top down. In this class, we’ll knit one of their designs. You’ll learn the theory of yoked construction, how, where and why to do short row shaping for the back, graph a sleeve onto the body, read a colorwork chart and play with colors!
Necessary skills: You must be able to cast on, knit in the round, (you choose your preferred method for the smaller circumference parts of the sweater), bind off and commit to several hours of knitting a week to insure you finish the sweater while the class runs.
Materials: Istex Lettlopi in 5 colors, US size 7 circular needles in several cord lengths to accomodate a growing number of stitches, either in-store Ravelry purchase of Tincan Knits :”Strange Brew” ebook, or purchase of hard copy, as available. normal knitting notions.
Please note: We require that yarns used in our classes are purchased from us. Students receive a 10% discount on class supplies while the class is running.
