Learn to knit this warm, weatherproof and stylish hat, and get tips on how to felt it to a dense, washable fabric suitable for all that Vermont winters throw our way!
In these two sessions, Shelley will help you demystify the process of knitting at a very loose gauge with the specific intention of washing your finished knitting to shrink it to a dense felted fabric. You will be expected to knit between classes to ensure that you complete the project during the two class sessions.
Materials: Either 500 or 750 yards of feltable worsted weight yarn, depending on how thick you want your hat to be. We recommend Ella Rae Classic wool, Plymouth Homestead or Berroco Ultra Alpaca. 24: size 11 circular needle, stitch marker, and normal knitting accessories. Pattern to be supplied by instructor.
Note: We require students use yarn they purchase at our shop for all classes. Students receive a 10% discount on all class supplies while the class is running.
